Root HTC Desire V & Installing CWM Recovery

First of all you will need to install USB drivers so that you can connect your HTC desire to your computer for its rooting and flashing. Click HTC drivers to download and install the drivers.

After that you have to enable the USB debugging option in settings => Applications => Development. Also is is recommended to charge your HTC desire V up to at least 80 % battery remaining.

Install ClockworkMod Recovery on HTC Desire V

Step 1: The file which we downloaded is now required to be extracted on your computer. Remove the SD card from your HTC desire and connect it to your computer. Execute the all in one exe file by double clicking it. You will see below window

Step 2: Since we are going to flash CWM recovery so in the Recovery section select ClockWorkMod and click on Flash Recovery after that you will see some progress and ClockworkMod recovery will be installed on HTC Desire V.

Step 3: In next step we will root HTC desire v using the CWM recovery menu and to boot in recovery mode turn off htc desire => press Volume Up and Power button together to enter in HBOOT menu => Select Recovery using Volume Key and press Power button to confirm the selection.

On all in one tool window go to Command window select boot into recovery and click Do Command, and after htc desire goes in recovery, select Perm Root (GB/ICS) under Extras section and click on Run. When everything done, reboot your device. Now we need to reboot our device using the toolkit, in the Commands section select Reboot Phone and click Do Command. Thats all you have successfully rooted htc desire v and it is now ready for app installation and other tweaks.
